Toilet: Ek Prem Katha

While the trailer of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha has resonated with viewers, the film’s makers promise that the soundtrack, too, will further pique their interest. Just like Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar’s desi love story, the songs, including the romantic number Hans Mat Pagli, are also earthy.

Akshay Kumar reveals, “Once during a shoot, I was traveling by road with the film’s writers Siddharth-Garima, when I noticed that the truck ahead had the line ‘Hans Mat Pagli Pyaar Ho Jayega’.  I felt that it went with the milieu of our film and asked the writers if they could pen the lyrics with this hook line. We have four desi romantic numbers  in our movie.” Incidentally, this is not the first time that Akshay Kumar has been inspired by what’s written on a truck. Case in point, the title of his 2008 action romance with  Katrina Kaif, Singh Is Kinng!

Composed by Vickey Prasad and rendered by Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal, the song Hans Mat Pagli shot in and around Mathura and Agra, shaped up so well that the makers felt it would be the best number to launch their soundtrack.

Talking about the number, Bhumi says, “By the time we finished shooting this song, the villagers had taken to it. There’s a certain innocent flirtiness to the lyrics, which you instantly connect with when you listen to the song. It also shows how romance in small towns and many cities begins.”

The actress adds that the songs have old school melodies that to be missing in soundtracks these days. “Hans Mat Pagli has many beautiful moments. In fact, all the songs take the story forward. You’ll feel the emotions the lead characters go through during the course of their love story,” says Bhumi.
